Streaming a Funeral or Memorial: Doing It Right, with Dignity
The moments that cannot be postponed and cannot be repeated. A sensitive guide to a broadcast that must work the first time.
Time is short, and the task is sensitive
A funeral is organized within hours. There is no time for gear checks and rehearsals; whatever you set up must work immediately, in an atmosphere with no room for noisy technical failures.
Setting up a broadcast in Bima takes minutes: create a broadcast, issue codes, send them in one family message. The broadcast itself - from a phone in hand or on a tripod, no extra gear. Most important: appoint one person outside the immediate mourners to own the stream, so the family is free to grieve.
Private by default
A funeral is not a public event. An open link circulating on networks can bring strangers into the family's most intimate moment. Viewing codes solve this without adding weight: one shared code for family and friends, sent together with the funeral details.
Whoever joins late sees the broadcast from the present moment - and what was missed is completed afterwards from the recording, which is saved automatically and open only to the same codes.
Broadcasting from the field: what actually matters
A cemetery has no power and no wired network - everything runs on battery and cellular. Leave with a fully charged phone and a power bank. In most Israeli cemeteries cellular reception is good; if weak reception is known in advance, consider a higher spot or fall back to audio-only, which passes even on a very weak network.
Audio-only mode is the safety net of such events: even if video struggles, the voice - the eulogies, the kaddish - reaches every viewer clearly.
Часто задаваемые вопросы
Can a broadcast be set up within an hour?
Yes. Creating a broadcast and issuing codes takes minutes, and phone broadcasting starts with one tap. This is a scenario the system was built for.
What about the shiva and later memorials?
The same organization can open a broadcast for every shiva evening or azkara, and send the same codes to the same list. Recordings stay organized per broadcast.
Does the recording stay forever?
The recording is stored in the cloud under the organizer's control: download a copy for the family, open it for later viewing, or delete it. Nothing publishes itself.
